Did we smash two (or more) genres together? Yes!
Did we make them work? Eh~~ that's gonna be for you to decide.
SOILbound combines Real Time Strategy with the Farming genre. Lethal, large(ish) scale battles meet cozy farm work in this Goblincore inspired Dark Fantasy game.

Play the part of the great Goblin King, ruler of the undergrowth, liege of all things that grow, burrow and cralw in dark places, in three narrative driven scenarios.
Forage for fallen fruit, plant seeds, water saplings, and tend to your fields to grow scores of minions from the damp, fertile soil.
From the humble Rootling to the might Earth-Wyrm, they all await your command.

Over the span of the narrative, the Goblin King's warhost takes on the court of the hated Fæy Folk and their lofty queen, bringing their own host of distinct warriors to bear; from the hardy Snail-Knights to the devastating Toothbreaker-Fairies!

MECHANICS:
Grubs & Grub Mush
Your primary resource for unit production is Grubs. Move one of your units near a neutral grub to bring it under your control. Bring captured grubs back to the Goblin King. Open Farming Mode by selecting the Goblin King - you can now drag and drop nearby Grubs onto the Goblin King to consume them using Left Click. Consuming Grubs heals the Goblin King and most importantly gives you Grub Mush required for recruiting units.
Farming
With grubmush at your disposal you can click on the Goblin King and recruit new units by planting saplings onto fertile soil. Rotate saplings with 'R'. Once planted, the spaling will require time to grow into a minion. Watering farm tiles with "F", or by clicking the watering button in the builing menu, speeds up the growing process.
Occasionally invasive weeds may infest your fields. 'Left Click' on them repeatedly to tear them out.
Fallen Fruit
While exploring the undergrowth you might encounter Fallen Fruit.
Thornberries / Red Fruit are required for recruiting higher tier units such as the Goblin Klubber or the Earth-Wyrm.
Spoiled Fruit / Yellow Fruit makes good compost and as such can be used to create additional plots of fertile soil by clicking on plots highlighted in green while in Farming Mode.
Dewdrops / Blue Fruit add to your water reserves.
